Series Host & Executive Producer
Kristan is the Director of the Institute for Science & Policy. Her objective is to ensure science has a respected role in public discourse and policymaking. Before joining the Institute, Kristan worked for the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research on external engagement to strengthen the visibility of the research, capabilities, and opportunities for partnership with the organization. She spent almost a decade in Washington, DC, in the nonprofit, think tank, and government sectors engaging in a range of Earth science and policy challenges. She holds an M.A. in Science Writing and an M.S. in Marine Science.
Writer & Executive Producer
Trent is the managing editor for the Institute for Science & Policy, overseeing all print, digital, and social media communications.
Previously, he was the science editor at the University of Colorado Boulder, covering engineering, biotech, energy, and climate research, receiving two awards from the Public Relations Society of America. Originally from Minnesota, he holds a M.S. in science writing from MIT.
Field Recorder & Researcher
Nicole provides Business Support for the Institute for Science & Policy. She has an extensive background in organizing people and content with Denver Parks and Recreation and Mayo Clinic. She is passionate about nonprofits and aims to help build a better future; she is on the board of Denver Employee Volunteer Opportunities, which supports and facilitates volunteer projects in Denver Metro.
Producer & Field Recorder
Juliette is an award-winning audio producer. She currently produces at House of Pod, a podcast production company, incubator, and community recording studio in Denver, CO.
Juliette helped produce Guardians of the River, which won the 2021 Best Narrative Nonfiction Podcast Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. She’s also produced shows about nuclear war, seeking discomfort, and gentrification in Denver. She is a graduate of the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and Middlebury College.
Story Editor
Cat is an audio producer and educator and the founder of House of Pod. Originally from Colorado, Cat has worked as a honey tour guide in Eastern Turkey, a digital organizer in global climate movements, a communication director for big banks and shoe brands, finally landing on her greatest love, audio. As a Fulbright Scholar and National Geographic Explorer, Cat wrote, recorded, and directed Guardians of the River, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2021, and has launched the non-profit Amped, developing Colorado's first podcast incubator for women of color.

Sound Design & Mastering
Jason is House of Pod’s Audio Lead, specializing in editing, sound design and music composition. He studied Audio Production and Journalism at SUNY Fredonia, where he helmed the community radio station WCVF-FM as Program Director. After graduation, Jason worked in public radio, producing audiobooks and mixing live music at 50+ Colorado venues. He occasionally performs with various musical projects and can’t wait to go on tour again.
Web Design and Development
Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, Carlos moved to Colorado in 2007 and joined the Denver Museum of Nature & Science in 2008 as a web designer. He has since grown into a UI/UX Designer, Web and Application Developer, and Data Analyst role, providing support for Museum teams, websites, applications and customer digital experiences. He also supports the web experience for the Institute for Science & Policy.
Carlos enjoys fostering relationships both outside of and throughout the Museum to ensure the best experience for both the content creators and the content consumers. Carlos holds degrees in Graphic Design and Visual Arts, and has been a web designer and developer with over 15 years of experience. He enjoys playing guitar, creating art, hiking, enjoying the outdoors, and spending quality time with his wife and two children.George Sparks
